About Elizabeth Horst
I am a mixed media painter currently living in the Bay Area of Sunny California with my husband Nehemiah.
Through bold brush strokes, intriguing patterns, and vibrant color, I aim to capture the vibrancy of life around me.
Why I Paint…
I’ve always wanted to be an artist. To hold in my hand the brush and create out of nothing beauty that captures the eye of the beholder.
Through the years, I’ve learned that we all have hard times. We all breathe, sweat, and cry, and sometimes we barely survive the pain that laces like a knife into our hearts. At times that pain is so great it feels like we will never be okay again, but always there is art.
It swirls in the sky around us; it dances off the backs of the musicians' instruments, running and twirling into the air around us. It's in the quiet of the morning when the birds are singing. In the flip of his wrist, as a chef works on the final details of his masterpiece.
Art is life. Even in the pain, it's there. A constant reminder that we were created by the master creator. We are made in his image to create and so I create because I was made to create. My heart is to capture beauty and peace and throw it on the canvas in a way that makes you feel alive again.
Become a Collector
Each of my originals is painted with high-quality artist mediums on stretched gallery canvas (unless otherwise noted). From building my sources to the finished product, each painting is carefully planned and handled with care, and I dream they will find their new homes with someone that will appreciate the painting for years to come.
I love to add layers of collage and oils to my paintings to add vibrancy and interest. Each painting is varnished to preserve the integrity and signed with a special message from the artist as well as a certificate of authenticity.
